These volunteers were all medical students with little or zero knowledge of putting together an event on such a huge scale, but they had a vision which drove them to work hard and do their best to turn it into a reality.
Zakat is a pillar of Islam and not just a form of charity. It is a means of enabling people to become an effective part of our society and achieve equity in such socioeconomic disparity. There is an ineffable sense of gratification one feels after giving just 2.5% of their possessions and HOPES ensures it is received by the deserving
- The main contribution comes from the students of KMDC collecting Zakat from their family, neighbors, and friends; enthusiastically using up their zakat books.
- A generous contribution comes from our alumni all over the world.
- The support of teaching faculty/Doctors of KMDC and ASH is heartening as well.

ZAKAT CAMPAIGN 2016
The second year of Zakat Campaign 2016, kick started with volunteers of every batch pitching in and helping promote the cause of this campaign. This years creative team decorated an entire wall of KMDC with posters. The wall famously now known as the ‘HOPES wall’ was a great initiative to spread the message around the entire campus.
Apart from the amazing efforts displayed by the creative team of HOPES, the rest of the volunteers played their part by visiting many different places in the month of Ramzan in order to collect Zakat.
It was due to the dedication and hard work of these volunteers that 2016s Zakat Campaign closed down with a generous collection of over 6.5 million rupees.
ZAKAT CAMPAIGN 2015
In 2015, HOPES increased its fundraising activities and officially started off with its Zakat Campaign by visiting many different malls and societies. Volunteers decided to beat all odds and went out in the scorching heat and even during their fast with just one thought in mind; to collect as much zakat as they could for the patients of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Their pure intentions and hard work was the reason why this campaign reached great heights and they were able to collect a generous amount of almost 0.5 million (5 lacs) just through their roadside campaigns.
Due to this initiative taken almost 5 years ago, Zakat Campaign has now become a major fund-raising campaign and has engaged a big number of volunteers and expects more, in the years to come.
Life is all about happiness and as human beings, social interaction with our fellow beings not only brings happiness but helps us grow our capacity to learn, familiarise, think, play and work. Festivals act like stress relievers and help us balance our emotions. More positivity naturally lowers negativity. It also provides an opportunity to reduce friction and brings estranged friends together.

HOPES Hides Campaign is the collection of hides of the sacrificial animals from door to door during the first day of Eid ul Adha. The hides are then sold to leather tanneries and the money generated is used to help the patients in exigency. It was discontinued from last year due to the prevalence of Congo Crimean Hemorrhagic Fever due to the Congo virus transmitted by the ticks crawling on the cattle. We place the utmost importance on the safety of our volunteers.
