INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AT PEADS WARD

Like every year volunteers of HOPES celebrated Independence day with the patients of Peads ward of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Goody bags were distributed, along with flags and badges.
The visit went successful overall and the main purpose to spread smiles on the faces of these little angles was achieved.
VISIT TO MARKAZ-E-UMEED

A visit was conducted at Markaz Markazeumeed (School for Special Needs Children). Goody bags were distributed, FREE Medical and Dental Check-up was provided, hygiene related information was also given to the Children.The visit went successful overall and the main purpose to spread awareness was achieved.
VISIT TO DAR-UL-SUKUN

Eid is not complete until it is celebrated with family and friends. In July 2019, Team HOPES went to Dar-ul-sukn to celebrate Eid ul fitr with the children who couldn’t celebrate it with their own family. Volunteers distributed gifts and goodie bags to everyone and to make the day more special cake cutting ceremony was done which filled their day with joy and happiness. Our team also conducted activities like face painting, drawing and a small dance session to make the day more colorful. And to make this Eid memorable for girls, our volunteers applied mehendi so they could get pure joy of this day like any other girl.
LITTLE MOONS LEARNING SCHOOL Oct'18

Our volunteers visited Little Moons School in Malir where they conducted free medical and dental checkups on the students including blood grouping, mental health examination, visual acuity, general physical examination, BMI and heart sounds. The students were very happy and satisfied. Kudos to all the volunteers.
VISIT TO BAGH-E-ILM

Our volunteers visited the BAGH-E-ILM School at Gulshan-e-Iqbal where almost 35 students are enrolled. The school is an initiative to provide free education to the underprivileged children of Karachi and is founded by Mr. Ali Murtaza, situated in a flat. Our volunteers conducted a number of activities, the first of which were awareness sessions regarding personal hygiene and its importance. They were having their professions week so our volunteers told them about doctors and their work, motivated and guided them about the studies. Hand washing and tooth brushing techniques were demonstrated in an interactive session and the children participated enthusiastically. A small medical camp was set up to check BMI, visual acuity, general physical health, mental health, BP/heart rate, blood grouping and dental hygiene. Goody bags were also provided to the students which contained stationary kits, hygiene kits and fruits for the kids.
FIRST AID WORKSHOP

HOPES, in collaboration with the Aga Khan University- Emergency Department (AKU-ED) , has been conducting training sessions for out-of-hospital Compressions-only CPR to the common men in Karachi and so far more than 200 people have been trained.Volunteers from HOPES were first trained by AKU-ED and after acquiring the status of Master Trainers, they have visited various locations and provided knowledge and skills regarding this technique to the laymen.
VISIT TO KIDS R US SCHOOL

Our volunteers visited the school “Kids R Us”. The students were given a brief introduction of HOPES along with a session of general health awareness. Career guidance, heat stroke awareness and other topics were talked about and the kids were also given medical and dental checkups. Activities such as face painting also took place and all the students were given goody bags in the end.
