HEALTH DESK AT NED
NOVEMBER 25, 2017
HOPES set up a clinical and props desk at the National Cabinets Event at NED University. The clinical stall offered blood grouping, blood pressure, blood sugar and weight checkup. Our volunteers also went to different committees of the event to inform them about HOPES and our upcoming 3rd Health Expo.
FIRST AID WORKSHOP

HOPES WITH PRCS NON-COMMERCIAL BASIC FIRST AID WORKSHOP HTP in collaboration with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society organized a two day Basic First Aid Training workshop for the students of KMDC at the Thakur Rashid Gohar training institute on the 9th and 10th of October 2017.Workshop included RC/RC movement, general principles of first aid, first aid for medical emergencies and injuries, environmental health and animal related impairment, drowning and resuscitation, triage, short distance transportation and psychological first ai.
VISIT TO FIX IT SCHOOL

Our volunteers visited the Fixit School where almost 120 students are enrolled. The school is an initiative to provide free education to the underprivileged children of Pakistan and is founded by Alamgir Khan. Our volunteers conducted a number of activities, the first of which were awareness sessions regarding personal hygiene and its importance. Hand washing and tooth brushing techniques were demonstrated in an interactive session and the children participated enthusiastically. A small medical camp was set up to check BMI, visual acuity, general physical health, mental health, BP/heart rate, Blood grouping and Dental hygiene. Giveaways were also arranged by the volunteers of HOPES which contained hygiene kits and fruits for the kids.
VISIT TO MARKAZ-E-UMEED

HOPES volunteers visited Markaz-e-Umeed. It is a welfare school for mentally challenged children and is located in the vicinity of Karimabad since the last 35 years. It is completely funded by public donations. The children were very excited to meet the volunteers, and were very disciplined. The volunteers started off by demonstrating the techniques of hand-washing and tooth brushing to the kids in each class. The children were then engaged in games such as tug-of-war and musical chairs, in which the volunteers had just as much fun as the kids. Activities such as hand printing and face painting brought huge smiles to the faces of all the children present, and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was an enlightening experience for our volunteers as well.

Another visit to The City School was paid by the HTP Team, Main aim was to enlighten students about regular health care and they were also provided with free medical and dental check ups to the students there along with blood group detection. Not only this, but presentations and interactive sessions were also held on the topics like ‘personal hygiene’ and ‘Benefit of Exercise’ where our volunteers counseled the students and discussed how they can make these things as a part of their daily life.

HOPES volunteers conducted yet another session of HOPES Talks Program. They visited Bagh-e-Ilm, a school run by Syed Ali Murtaza. The children greeted us with a huge smile. Volunteers and students celebrated “Health Day” starting with the interactive session on Health, Food & Personal Hygiene, explaining the methods of keeping yourself clean and eating healthy foods. We also had a medical camp there to assess the general health of the students. We also distributed hygiene kits and fruits to encourage them to eat healthy.

Our volunteers visited The City School, Gulshan-e-Iqbal for another HTP visit where HOPES volunteers provided free medical and dental check ups to the students there along with blood group detection. Not only this, but presentations and interactive sessions were also held on the topics like ‘depression’, ‘study stress’, ‘bullying’ and ‘personal hygiene’ where our volunteers counseled the students and discussed how they can overcome these problems.

HOPES volunteers visited The Zeal School for another HOPES Talk Program that was mainly for the children of age 3 to 7 years. It seems very easy for children to fall ill, especially if they’re under 5 years of age ,so the visit proved to be a successful one as the children of pre primary and primary were taught about the basic hygiene , hand washing and teeth brushing techniques. HOPES Conducted its third session of HOPES Talk Program. This time, we were invited by the administration of Aghaaz School to come over and conduct a general medical checkup of the students. Our volunteers arranged a medical camp for the kids, some of the volunteers read stories to the kindergarten students, some taught students from every class a few hand washing techniques while the others talked to a bit older students about other important topics such as self esteem, importance of education, bullying, junk food and unhygienic street-food and its effects.
AWARENESS SESSION ON CRIMEAN-CONGO HEMORRHAGIC FEVER

HOPES arranged a seminar in order to create awareness regarding wide Spread Congo Virus and how one can stay safe using the necessary precautions. Crimean–Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a widespread tick-borne viral disease that is endemic in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. In our second session of HTP we visited a government primary school, a school full of so many bright students but no facilities at all. No fans, no bulbs or any other facility that a child should have while studying. Our volunteers arranged a medical camp for the kids, some of the volunteers read stories to the kindergarten students, some taught students from every class a few hand washing techniques while the others talked to a bit older students about other important topics such as self esteem, importance of education, bullying, junk food and unhygienic street-food and its effects. While teaching them, we learnt so many things.Some experiences open your eyes wide enough to let you see things for what they are. We’re only sharing our efforts with you in hope to bring a little change to society as well. A heartfelt thanks to our amazing volunteers who sat with us in this heat for 3 hours without fans or anything.

Alhamdulillah On 13th September 2015, We successfully conducted our first session of HTP. Our team visited a charity school BAGH e ILM, an amazing school run by a great person Syed Ali Murtaza. HOPES volunteers set up a medical camp in which we checked hygiene, general health, height weight etc. Half of the volunteers were examining kids while the other half was busy telling them stories and singing poems with them. We gave them gifts and in return they gave us one of the best experiences of our lives.
